Tony
With nearly 35 years of bookselling experience, Tony is known for his expansive and enthuasiastic book recommendations across children's literature. Before becoming co-owner of The Alligator's Mouth, Tony was a primary school teacher in the Cotswolds, so he has expert knowledge on nurturing a love of reading in children. Even though he was not a literature, maths or sport specialist, he found he loved teaching children who had little confidence in these subjects. When Tony left teaching, he fell into a job in Waterstones Stratford-upon-Avon, before a brief period of travelling and moving to London. It was here he met Margaret at The Lion & Unicorn, where they worked together for many years before they opened The Alligator's Mouth together. Outside of his time at the shop, Tony has not spent enough time playing Bach, Chopin or Rachmaninov, and fun fact: he's only drowned once...
